the get up and go to do housework.

Can anyone advise me on how to get to grips with housework. I work full time, run a second business, raise my little girl alone, (but gladly), am always tired and never seem to have the get up and go do get my housework done.
Where can I get motivation from.
Thanks Katie. x

Bathroom one day, hoover upstairs, hoover downstairs, dust, etc. Ironing in front of TV helps take your mind off it. Plus one or 2 loads of washing each day (I put a load in the night before & switch on as soon as I get up so it is done before we leave for school/work). I have just started work again, so I grit my teeth and blat around for 20 mins when we get in from school.
I would say - spend one whole day having an absolute blits and get rid of stuff that you don't need or that are just clitter!
After that, make your home setup as simple as possible and have a place for everything and don't forget the little things i.e. hang your coat up, don't just drop your keys on the table, do a little bit of ironing insted of a huge pile!

Doing housework is about the least rewarding occupation I can think of so I'm not surprised you are finding it difficult to feel motivated about it, especially when you lead such a busy life.
Perhaps you can declutter as much as you can so that surfaces are clear and can be easily cleaned and dusted.
If it doesn't show, don't iron it. Nobody will know.
Don't be a slave to laundering bedlinen if it still looks clean.
Try and implement a rule that everything is put away in its place immediately after use. Untidiness can make you feel beleagured whereas a tidy but dusty room doesn't look so bad. And finally, remember that having time for your little girl is more important than dusting and a clean towel in the bathroom every few days.

thanks everyone for your replies. I am going to get a cleaning lady. The cleaning lady from work is AMAZING and charges 10 an hour. However, what I have to do first is DE-CLUTTER everything. My little girl is 10 years old and I have never been ready to throw out ANY of her things since the day she was born. Picture the scene, I have in excess of 30 suitcases of clothes (that I am going to give to the local childrens home for girls) and just keep little things like her first pair of gold boots, the little dress that she wore for my graduation day (she was 11 days old lol), all her birthday dresses and so on.
Thank you so much everyone. I SO APPRECIATE IT. I am taking lots of your advice and having a VAN boot sale next week. I am doing a little bit at a time, tidying, getting rid etc, and THEN I am going to get a cleaner to clean it all and keep him/her on.
You are ALL wonderful.
Katie.
P.S. Please keep you ideas coming. I am beginning to suspect that Housework is a LEARNED BEHAVIOUR. LOL. Katie. x

In the Home Section, there are lots of threads about decluttering, simplifying your life, etc and you will come across hundreds of posters who are all suffering from the same problem and sharing their hints. You will find yourself in very friendly company.
