Banks like getting people into debt as they get more interest and fees that way that bumps up their profits, they dont like people who never go overdrawn or pay off the full amount owing on their credit card each month as there is nothing in it for them!

Its outrageous the way they dish out credit to people on low incomes knowing they will get into difficulties meaning more profits for the banks. My neighbour earns 8k a year but has 2 credit cards with 12k limits on and shes up to them!

Dont fall into the trap....cut it up!
Hi I have just got me credit card to ZERO!! And, that's how it's going to stay ,hopefully.
If something is worth paying for then it's worth saving for. But if you want it now and are prepared to pay interest then use the card but pay it off A S A P.
Do not use the card to supplement/support your lifestyle IE meals out, fuel, car tax etc etc. Use the card as a simple way of spending money that you have not what you might have in the future. Credit cards are Brilliant but only if you pay them off each month
On the statements, check that the credit limit is the minimum. The banks will often increase the limits without your permission. Check how long you've got to pay off the balance. The banks are reducing this time, so that if you don't pay quickly they charge interest.

Better still, if you really are worried about getting into debt, tell the bank to close the card account and cut up the card.

I can remember the days when banks didn't want people to get into debt. Nowadays they don't want people to get out of it.
