Was watching the Beckham party last night and wondered if a footballer, on anyone else for that matter, earns 100,000 per week, how much take home pay would he have after Income tax and National Ins.

Also would they get a state pension, if so how much. Presumably all their stamps would be upto date

A salary of 400,000 per month would be a take home pay of

236428.56

Income tax would be 159350.48 per month and National Insurance 4220.96.

In addition the employer would pay 51149.57 every month in employers' national insurance contributions.

The footballer would be entitled to state pension at the going rate - it would not be in proportion to the huge sums paid in.

Of course an individual with this sort of salary would employ financial advisors to minimise their tax liabilities legitimately.

And footballers wives are entitled to claim child benefit as is everyone, no matter how rich they are. :)

Hey Ethel, Thanks for excellant answer.

The mind boggles at these salaries especially when the employer has to pay that amount in stamps.
