Can anyone reccomend an understanding bank for a new start business? I'd like one where I can actually go and see someone rather than talk to an office miles away! All thoughts appreciated.

I have several businesses now and for 'start ups' the best service I recieved in the past was from Natwest, I dont use them anymore as my growth has open new doors in banking however, Natwest still would be the best to date. hope it helps
I quite like the HSBC.....especially as they're international & Hong Kong & Shanghai seem a wee more stable than the West at present; maybe realistic values?
loyds tsb without a doubt, worst by miles natwest screw you for every penny and if you faulter for a day stitch you up big style, just licensed crooks in my opinion
I used to work for LloydsTsb. All I can say is that all the banks generally provide a good service - but individually some staff may fall short, as may some customers. We all have our preferences and horror stories. I suggest you research on the internet for what seems the best deal. Make an appointment and if you don't get on with the person who interviews you, try the next best. Good luck
