Just heard on sky news that the queen has shown her books so to speak.
I was surprised that it onlycosts 37 million pounds to fund the royal family.
Its only an average of 62p per persion in the uk.
That doesnt sound like a bad deal when you consider the money sven is getting from the F.A.. or what tv stars like jono ross are paid.
I think theyre worth the cash.
How about you?

I have no problem with the Roayal family, what I do object to are the leeches that hang on for a free ride, I don't think they actually cost us anything when everything is taken into account, like the, revenue from tourism etc but they should get rid of some of the lazy gits, that ponce on us.
I'll second that Ray!
Question Author
ray dont you get folk like that everywhere?
How much is leeched off the state by lazy chavs who wont work and dont wanna work but still get a good living from the state.
I believe its hundreds of millions.
Pales the royal family into insignificance.
I don't know about Ray, but I've always loved & admired the Queen & the Queen Mother, etc., but what do the likes of Prince Edward, or Priness pushy 'really' do for a living these days?

What do they do that actually earn our Country money?

Only asking.
*Princess pushy even!
Question Author
i dunno but i aint seen them on the street corners smoking free fags drinking free beer and harassing folk on their way home from work.sound like a street corner near you?
doley chavs
Sad but true legend, far to many ponce on society, but the system is to blame, they need to toughen up and ,make the lazy wazzocks work, oh sorry can't do that infringing there human rights, oh sorry, carry on poncing then

My apologies legend - but I thought you were asking solely about the costs of the royal family, as per the title, which I tried to answer fairly.

Yes, you're quite right about 'doley chav's', but then we all know there are lazy, idle, ar$eholes out there, poncing off us to pay for their fags, booze & drugs, along with prisoners, eating three meals a day at our expense too!
These are "spin" books. They don't account for all manner of things like security and tax concessions - the real cost is reckoned at nearer 150 million

The accounts reveal that Charles and Camilla's scheduled flight to Philadelphia and New York in January so he could collect a Global Environmental Citizen prize, cost 59,045.

Bargain!

And what's all this stuff about how much they make from tourism - we could probably boost the countries tourist income by turning StoneHenge into a theme park - Since when are this countries constitutional affairs decided by how many tourists it'll attract?

Because I don't read the Daily Express or The Mail, I'm pleased to say that the royal family don't enter my consciousness much at all.

But 'only' 62p per person? I'm sure it's more than that, and even that doesn't strike me as value for money.

Ross gets paid a lot of money because he's a very talented TV presenter. He's not to my tastes but he's paid to entertain, which in the view of about 4 million people a week, he does.

I don't think Sven is paid anything by the FA now? What he was being paid was based on a contract to manage the national team of this country's most popular sport. He was working for a commercial enterprise that was paying him out of its own revenue. Not yours or mine.

The royal family's image as hard-working tourism magnets is ludicrously overstated. The Tower of London is a bigger tourist attraction than Buckingham Palace. Does it bother the tourists that there's no royalty living there? No.

If the 62p is paying for the upkeep of monuments and buildings, fair enough. But it's spent on providing tax breaks, fine foods, hunting trips, gin (lots of gin in the Queen Mother's case), corgis and racehorses.

I'm happy to keep the monarchy but this bowing and scraping and toadying up to them is a bit pathetic I think.

How the English Love to bow and scrape to their 'Betters'.
