muscle is heavier than lardy bits !!! you are toning and building muscle as well as ridding yourself of the fat bits...well done..keep it up
I always find when Ive been to the gym regularly, I put on weight too. Muscle does weigh more than fat but it does tone up your sagging bits so as long as you balance your exercise and diet, you should do ok. Good luck

lol thanks for that hun but truthfully i have stones to lose so i cant be a bulked up muscely women hehe i just wanted to no if i am doing right x
I have about 5 stone I would LIKE to lose but I have so far lost nearly 2 stone in 18 weeks. You have to do it gradually and I dont personally think low cal is the best way as I find I end up feeling heady. Im with Slimming World and it suits me just fine.
Why not join our onwards and downwards thread under Health and Beauty section
Just keep at it and as Murray and TOH have said you are building muscle which is heavier than fat. You will start noticing the difference soon. How many calories are you actually eating?
If you are going to exercise, you have to eat sufficient calories...NOT go very low calorie. It will do you more harm than good.
hiya ive been on a no fat no dairy thing as i have gallstones for about 7 mths now i have done a little bit of exercise half an hour here and there of fitness dvds and wii fit and have lost nearly 6 stone (i still have more to go!!!) my weights just begining to slow down and needs a boost so im thinking of starting swimming and have been going rollerblading with my daughter (dont laugh :) ) find something you feel comfortable with doing and then build up to doing more if you push yourself to hard then you will lose heart in it all :) good luck with it all and heres to a fitter year for us all :)

i do slimming world!! without the excercise the weight dropped off!
now with swimming its slowed hope i am not doing wrong by swimming x surely i cant be
donna....go by how your clothes feel. As others have said-you are most likely building up muscle....which is a good thing. Muscle does weigh more than fat,but it also uses more energy (calories) to work.
The trouble with swimming is it makes you damned hungry.Good for toning though so keep it up.Your Avatar gives you away though Pastafreak.Avoid pasta, bread and all those lovely wheaty things and the weight will drop off!
Sorry pf ,thought that was your question.I'm not suggesting you're overweight!
[email protected] you been reading my mind. I am building up to biting the bullet so I can get rid of about 10 excess pounds.

The dog is going to get a LOT of walking!
The other thing...the muscle you build uses more calories moving your extra weight around...but please don't go low calorie as it will slow your metabolism and you will start the diet, gain diet cycle with it getting harder every time...
Me too,I am on a 'cut down' diet and trying to avoid bread etc and I am losing a couple of pounds a week,so that I can fit into my summer clothes.I only have to lose about half a stone though.
Pasta, same here. The dog is getting loads of exercise. Walking really helps me to lose weight more than anything else!! Weather is brightening - I shall go out across them there fields very shortly!! The extra pounds are all around my waistline!
Mine too ,that's why my cropped jeans won't do up any more!
Hahahha!!...we must have the same waisteline, Lottie. My clothes still fit-except for that worrying bit....so when I say I need to loose, people roll their eyes. But-it's how I feel....sluggish,and uncomfortable. So-time to nip it in the bud.
Mine do up but what comes out over the top is just not pretty!!
I am looking at slimming world again. I adapt it for myself,it works as I still want my rice and pasta. I don't do very well if I cut things out.....but that's me.
