Well done Jomlett, wendilla and Maydup. Have you noticed that it is a long time since we have had the naughty step out? This proves that we have successfully intergrated our new eating habits into our lives which is quite a feat! You should all be VERY proud of yourselves!!!

What about putting a x in it as you would with a baker potato?
I mean baked
Never done that with potatoes, I know some folk do it with sprout stalks. Probably wouldn't hurt though.

And I'll have to be double sure it stands on the 'stalk' end next time. Might make it less likely.
I have just done a small swede in microwave .took 12 mins . No mess . Just remember to put it in a dish as some moisture escapes . It tasted much nicer that boiling it .I would say a large one would take longer but you could always cut it in half . No mess just scooped it out and mashed it with pepper .
I cooked a large swede in my microwave. It took twenty minutes. It did explode a little bit a first, so I took it out and put a cross on the top and bottom, then it was ok.
Trying it with a turnip this week.
Marijm. I don't think it would make any difference cutting it on top as it is already cut there . It just sizzles a bit then ok . Best maybe to put the cut part face up . Don't know for sure just a suggestion
OG I don't think a small turnip will take long .try 6 to 8 mins then see if knife goes in easy .
Thanks Wendilla. I'm going to try a turnip next too. I love jacket potatoes, and jacket sweet potatoes done in the microwave.
Had my turnip tonight. Was a bit soft already when bought, bought the firmest they had. Should have found a bigger one. Ended up getting just 84 gms of flesh from it. Was ok though, no explosions this time, but there again I had to make my own (fresh) cut in that; the swede previously, came ready cut. Put salmon fillet & samphire with it; plus a bit of onion & garlic.
Sounds lovely :-)
Good morning all,
I've stayed the same this week. The weather hasn't permitted my walks so maybe that has something to do with it.
Go to the top of the class with your healthy meal OG, it doesn't get better than that.
My Salter scales I hope are working again and tells me I've lost 900 grammes but still 26 on the BMI...getting there!
going the right way Jomlett. At this time of year it is not easy but I have got away with it and stayed the same which I have to be careful it don't catch up with me . With your meals out Xstitcher you are like me been lucky not to gain.
I forgot that I have had a meal out this week. Now that makes me feel very lucky that I didn't put on anything! Thanks for the reminder Wendilla!
Well done all.
OG ?
I can understand your wish to see your BMI go down Jomlett. It does take its time doesn't it! A 9000 grams loss is nothing to sneeze at..congratulations, just keep doing what you're doing!
I assume you question mark is about weight Wend. There are two things. First it is still two high for me to be anything other than in denial, so hasn't been recorded. And also I didn't even weight properly this morning. Don't ask but everything has gone wrong this morning and hasn't stopped yet as far as I can tell. The fates are giving me a hard time today.
OG be patience . It is not going to be easy over xmas and I certainly am not going to worry about what I eat except try and eat in moderation . Not over indulge .There will be a new start to the year and that is when to start to take things seriously .
sigh
TOO high

Cheers. My biggest issue (aside from this morning) is that the weight seems not to have moved enough to be noticed all year. (I don't have the text file to check for the moment.) Down a bit, up a bit, up a bit, down a bit. And of late I can see I've been overindulging but not wilfully, it's just, well a number of things really. But there was no excuse for the weight to remain steady for most of the year.

Ho hum...
