Onwards and Downwards Continues in November 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

With Christmas and party season on the horizon some of us may want to look our best for that special do. And while you are all doing a fantastic job in the weight department we mustn't forget that self-esteem also comes from within and a dynamite outfit can give a massive confidence boost. If we feel good inside we look good outside. OK enough pep talk here are a few links that you may find helpful when shopping or looking at your wardrobe:

This one is good for both men and women :-)

This is good for shorter girls and I love that they have put both pics in so you can really see the difference in the style.

The main conclusion seems to be that shaped and tailored fitting clothes will flatter most shapes even if they are slightly fuller. So ladies and gents lets flaunt what we've got and show the world that while we are trying to change our shape we are still amazing!!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

You should continue to eat a healthy variety of food types. Simply analyse if you are overindulging in one.

or for me........must dust off the naughty step.
Just been up my local supermarket not bought a thing out of place .all good healthy eating food . Took my notebook and just bought what I had wrote down . If it's not written down you buy things you should not have but I went with a clear head today .
Well done to Lynda! (It's not looking good for me either, this week. I hope we're not all on the naughty step on Wednesday)
Oh my goodness, what is happening to all of us. We've been so good for so long and now it seems like we're expecting a collective back slide!
Good morning All,
Despite my negative prognosis I have lost a pound so smiles all around.
Fingers crossed for everybody and if it goes wrong the naughty step is dusted off and there is a nice cuppa awaiting you :-))
Morning all. Well, I have just managed to stay off the naughty step but no change for me this week. Despite what I thought was my bes efforts at losing a bit more for Christmas. I really think I need to think about the carbs.....I eat no bread at all, but I do have potatoes, rice, oatabix and a little pasta. Perhaps this is where I'm going wrong?
Despite a big day out on Sunday dinner and all the naughty trimmings I have stayed the same I have been very strict this week in case it catches up with me .
Well done xstitcher and MAYDUP maybe just try cutting out one of which may be causing the problem or it might not be that . its just one of these things that is annoying when we have been good and not lost .

Go to the top of the class OG!! This is what it's all about.
There was an article in the DM today saying that sensible eating was more productive for weight loss than ANY of the diets, WW included, but then we here know that don't we.
Folk seem to be doing better than I. Despite dropping both Tuesday and today I still (once the scales started getting consistent) find myself ⅝ lbs up on the week. Mind you that's a vast improvement since Monday.
I think all of our scales were out of kilter on Monday. Even hubby who is not trying to loose weight was up 1½ kilos.
Have been eating Chia Seeds of late, can't vouch for the claimed health benefits (i.e lowering cholestral etc.) but certainly can vouch for the 'sense of fullness' experienced if the seeds are soaked before eating/drinking. I sprinkle my daily dose on my morning muesli, blueberries and yoghurt.
Always wary of seeds. What do they taste like ?
No taste OG. Packed with healthy nutrients. Info on:

The pumkin seeds have a nice nutty taste but they are quite high in fat content so that is probably why they taste good.
Oh right. Thanks.

Hard like nuts or soft like lentils ? They may be worth a try but I'm unsure I'd look especially.
Very, very tiny but swell when they absorb water; then soft. Well worth looking up the nutrients and health benefits
Hello Penelope and welcome . There is no known fact that these seeds help you lose weight in fact they are full of fat and carbs . There was a study done on these in usa for 3 months and there was no weight loss . But they are very good for you if you are not trying to lose weight .
Interesting. Thanks again.
May try them if I see them.
Health shops only I suspect.
Ah right. Dried they are 490 kC and 3 grams of Saturated fat per 100 gms.

It seems wendilla has a point. But I take the other point that if they are soaked and swell up you might not need so much to fill full.
