sex education when is it the appropriate age

I don't think it should be the schools job to educate.

Children should have their questions answered in an appropriate manner whenever they start showing an interest. Schools can further that education on but it should all start in the home by the parents.

i think 10ish to start talking about puberty, then follow on with the rest after that.

yes it should china but some parents dont even put food on the table for their children let alone spend time with them to talk to them

what about some families who choose to opt out their kids, because of religious cultural beliefs??? do you feel it should be compulsory for all?

if my child started as young as 8 then i would talk to her myself.
I dont see the need for a 6/7/8 year old knowing whats to come when shes older, let her have a childhood.

I believe questions should be answered as appropriate, I started asking questions at about 5/6 as my mother was pregnant with my sister so naturally I wanted to know jhow that happened. I obviously didn't get the full details but I understood that getting pregnant involved a mummy and a daddy. As I got older, say 8/9 and started developing a teeny bit in the chest area, my mother brought me a book about puberty which we read together and I asked questions.... As I got older, I started learning more about the nitty gritty, squelchy business. The school can provide back up education which it did but I think it all starts at home.

When my daughter was about 4 or 5 she started asking where babies came from. I found a nursery book in the library which dealt with things in a very simple and light hearted way which we read together and had a great laugh at. She read it again by herself a couple of times, asked me a couple of questions and that was it for a few years. After that it was a case of answering any questions she asked and then the big 'talk' about puberty when she was about 10.
