Jack's Physio Vest
22 Answers
Can any fellow ABers who have a little spare cash please consider donating to this little boy's fund?
Jack has many and varying disabilities, he also has bronchiectasis. He was loaned a physiotherapy vest which helps to clear his lungs of secretions and prevent infection, the NHS has said that he can no longer have it so the family are raising money to buy their own. They are very close to their goal of £7,000 but donations are only trickling in.

I suppose there could be a number of reasons why he was turned down. It could of course be that those making the decision feel he's not benefiting enough for them to fund it.
I fought the NHS and consultants on MrG's behalf for an expensive and experimental treatment that they said wouldn't be of any use.....I won....it worked and we had five fairly good years that we otherwise wouldn't....plus I saved them a shed load of money in the end and freed up a dialysis space and saved a possible second transplant.
And they had the glory of writing about the success of the experiment and a trip to Australia which they didn't invite me on......☺
If donating my little bit gives the parents hope and they feel they are doing their very best for their son I am more than happy with that....x

He has a little room for growth in the one he is currently trialling, he will definitely need bigger vests as he grows but the family will deal with that as and when needed.
I believe he was turned down by the NHS as they don't fund these vests at all, they say that manual chest physio is adequate. Due to his lack of understanding Jack couldn't tolerate this and the vest has been a viable alternative.

Thanks for explaining, Daffy...I can see what's happening now.
We were faced with letting a donated kidney die and returning to dialysis or trialing plasma exchange in an attempt to defeat the kidney destroying anitbodies....plasma exchange is what I fought for.....I knew it would make our lives better but had to fight the need for the NHS to choose the cheapest option....x
