Missed the postman and have a card saying I have a signed for letter to get. I can't decide if I should go and get it (and drive across the city in Friday rush hour traffic) or wait until tomorrow (but then I will spend all night worrying about it). What would you do?

If you are going to worry about it overnight, better go and get it.
Today I received an email telling me I had missed a DHL delivery but realised it was a scam.
When our cards are left, I think they advise leaving it until the next day....the postie has to take it back to his depot and it has to be registered and stored, so that when you do go and collect it, they can out their hands on it immediately.
I'd wait, but there again I'd not be worrying about it.
I don't think you can pick it up the same day...........

I'd leave it til tomorrow... but then it wouldn't worry me so I guess maybe call and ask if you can collect today.
I'd firstly post on AB about it.....

We are not exactly known for our good luck so it's bound to be something crappy - still undecided about what to do (will be a v unpopular choice with the children if I go and get it tonight though).
i don;t think you can get it today, you can get it delviered to a local po instead if that's easier
if it's crappy, I wouldn't be in a rush to find that out anyway, get it tomorrow.
Forget about it until Monday. If it's something not good then not knowing about it until Monday isn't going to make a difference and knowing about it would make you have a crap weekend. If it's something good then it will be a nice surprise for a Monday.
If at lunchtime I get back home and see a PO/Parcelforce missed delivery card on the floor, I can go that same lunchtime and it is usually at the depot. Naturally one runs the risk that it is still out with the van/postman but I can't recall the last time it was an issue.
With ours they always write on the back of the card it can be collected after 1pm. I guess it depends on where you live.

I had one the other day...it said it can be picked up after 48 hours.
That's not quite true Methyl. I had a recorded letter today from an insurance company offering to pay our costs after an accident. Despite the fact I had a duplicate of the same letter also in todays post that was sent as standard. It could be anything! Not neccessarrily (sp) something bad.
The other day I got a card saying I could pick up a Recorded Delivery letter from the sorting office after 5.00 hrs. They had tried to deliver at 9.00am and had put the time on the card. So I got the car out at 2.00 and drove to sorting office. They close at 2.00 !!!!
