and was doing very well on the tablets, but he's an HGV driver, and they said he had to come off them or they wouldn't re-new his licence. The tablets were fluoxetine, and he daren't go back in case the doc says it's the same with all the tablets he needs. He's come off them and life is really hard.Does anyone have any experience in the HGV side of it pls ??

He needs to go back to the doctor and explain the situation.

After all - what has he got to lose?

Either his doctor says yes, it;s the same for all medication, and he can't drive, or no, there is something he can have that is acceptable to the DVLA.

The point is, he will know, and not knowing is not going to help his condition.

Also, check with the DVLA if they are denying his licence for any anti-depressant medication, or if it depends on the dose and type - again, nothing to lose.

Hope this helps.

depending on his level of depression i would suggest 5HTP...hydroxytryptophan...its a more natural antidepressant and it works...

howver its not availbale on nhs but from health food shops
Nooooo too risky depression with paranoia shouldn't be treated with something from the health food shop

If it was that good it would be tested in proper trials and available on prescription
millie, I would be more concerned about Mr M coming off this sort of medication without medical supervision - most of these meds (in my experience) need a gradual withdrawal. sounds like this needs a three-way discussion with the DVLA and your GP. Good luck.
