Today is my birthday and through spontanaiety i decided to go and get my nose pierced! It's ok, i'm in my 20's so i knew that i wanted it done. The thing is that i'm worried of infection or other problems as the nose shares the same blood supply as the brain and so the brain could, technically, get an infection too! When reading this i panicked and that's why i'm asking for advice from anyone who knows anything about this type of piercing.  The piercer told me to change the piercing in 3 weeks but as it is large and my son would pull at it i changed it within the hour to a smaller stud that i purchased from the shop. I wanted to know if this is dangerous? It did bleed a bit when i pulled the other one out but i could just be over panicking. What do you think?

Thanks

If you have changed it then it will be sore but the best thing to do now is not keep touching it! The more you touch it the higher the risk of it getting infected. I wish i'd didn't take mine out now when i was at school but the teacher forced me to and after a day it closed up! dam!

It probably only bled because the hole had started healing around the stud, if you spin the stud every now and again (clean fingers mind) it'll stop it happening.  Any infection you get would be fairly minor, you can normally clear them up quickly. Just make sure you stick to pure metals (gold, silver etc) and keep it clean.

u should ask a doctor...........hope things work out.
they tell you that you shouldn't do it but I've known plenty of people do it and be ok. Luckily, i got to have mine done with a small, gemmed stud, so didn;t have to change it. I did notice a few times that it had bled in the night - i guess that's because i knocked it while i was asleep - but as long as you keep it clean it will be ok.
just one other thing to add, at any sign of infection: if it gets more tender, swollen or red than usual, or especially any yellow pus (clear is OK, anything else may mean infection) get to the doctor or NHS clinic ASAP don't try and sort it out yourself.  infections can spread pretty fast around the body
i changed my stud after an hour of having mine done to a smaller stud, one if the ones that are L shaped and i have had no problems with mine! I had mine done when i was 16 and im 20 now! GoodLuck im sure it looks fab!

Just as a reply to the bit about yellow pus meaning the peircing is infected.

don't forget that you will get kind of crusty yellow bits round the piercing where it is healing. These are what you are aiming to removed when you clean it, and are totally normal. They don't mean the piercing is infected.
