I am due to go for a blood test this afternoon.  My doctor said that I must not eat or drink anything after 9pm (last night).  Why is this?

So your system has time to flush everything out then your test will be accurate.

Do you think I can drink water?
I think so, but do not take my word for it! I am sure AB ED will pop in the post 'do not rely on AB users, seek medical advice etc' shortly. Just phone your GP to double check.

Thanks guys.
It could be a Fasting Blood Glucose test to check for diabetes - eating food will cause your blood sugar levels to rise for several hours, before it settles back to its fasting level

For a FBG test you are allowed to drink water and clear, non sugary liquids such as black tea, sugar free cola etc
