Long shot but some angustura bitters in lemonade may help. Just a drop mind.
Brandy and ginger ale.
hope you feel better soon Whitebears,of not take some mor Bicarbonate of soda in a couple of hours, and carry on doing so until you do!........or until you get your gaviscon!.............
You could add the soda to orange juice or lemonade next time, Whitebear.
gaviscon.an antacid nearest thing would be milk.

wow theres been some great alternatives, i will deffo stock up tomz!! many thanks all xxxxx :)
Black tea, preferably caffeine free but it works for me when I run out of gaviscon
Any time whitebears, Welsh and Prudie, the old remedies still stand the test of time don't they : -) Peppermint is also a good standby,
Hope you feel better soon Whitebears, I know how uncomfortable you must be feeling right now!.....................

aww thanks, what would i do without u guys :-)

i hope i feel better soon...
Dont overdo the bicarb as you may get a compensating acid reflux. No help to you at pres but a small handful of almond kernels works for me as a preventative. No idea why.
Zantac is good to prevent acid build up and can now be bought over thee counter.
No probs Whitebears, that's wjy we are here! we try to help each other..............hope you feel beter soon!...........You may need a few doses of bicarb though before you feel good!......................
Have you had an endoscopy into your tummy. If you do you may be prescribed a ppi drug that really do work. Iy will find out your problem . I had constant indegestion and it was a small hernia. Cleared up eith the ppi drug i took, lanpazperole. Your gp would sort it out for you.
At last! Somebody has mentioned having it assessed by a medic - that's what I'd do.
Just about to say exactly the same thing flitty. I found that I was taking more and more indigestion relief including gaviscon - went to dr and after an endoscopy was pescribed Omeprazole - one a day and the jobs done and it has been like tha tfor about 10 years
Incidentally, Whitebears, If you find Gaviscon a bit expensive then I use Tesco's Indigestion and Heartburn liquid. Similar formula and much cheaper.
WhiteBears, excuse me for asking, but why do you need to take Gaviscon on a permanent daily basis? If you haven't been prescribed it, you may have an underlying problem that needs investigation. I only ask as I wouldn't like you to overlook something more serious.
Of course Whitebears needs to have a long term assesment, but that's his decision! we are just tring to give him short term relief!..............After all it is weekend!....Hopefully he will cosult his GP on Monday about this!........

hi flitty, gingebee and grump, i will monitor it this week or so, if it gets any worse i will see my gp,

hey wak, gaviscon do cost a bomb! i think im going to visit tescos tomz, thnks for that.x
Bi-carb is the basic ingredient of a lot of commercial products for stomach upsets. For a really quick remedy..put a teaspoonful in a half a tumbler of lemonade ....it will froth like 'old billy-o'....and, if you drink it whist it's frothing, relief comes very quickly.
