Which is the best type of moisteriser for protecting against the cold -there seem to be quite a few varities all claiming to do the same thing

Do you mean for the face? I would think a barrier cream would be better in really cold weather. That prevents moisture loss from the skin rather than putting moisture into the skin.

Neutrgena It's what Norwegian fishermen use. Use it very sparingly though.

Isn`t Neutrogena for the hands thougn? I`m not sure I would want to put it on my face. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is good. If that doesn`t do it, nothing will
