$125 and $225 dollars

Can someone tell me what that is in real money please?

At current exchange rates, US$125 = £78.11 but you'd need to spend about £85 to get US$125 from a bureau de change. If you'd already got US$125, you'd only get around £70 for it at a bureau de change.

Similarly, US$225 = £140.65 but you'd need to spend nearer to £150 to get US$225, while changing it back into sterling would only yield around £130.

ahhh right, so $125 dollars is $100 dollars less than $225 dollars but £70 is £70 less than £140 so it's doubled?

Er, not exactly!

US$225 is nearly double US$125, so the sterling equivalent of US$225 is bound to be slightly less than that of US$125. (My 'bureua de change figures are only very rough estimates)
