I was talking to my neighbour this morning about her sciatica, she had an appt at the hospital to have Cortisone injections, but didn't go, when I asked why she said, her sister had said after a while you start growing facial hair & may have to resort to shaving every day so she decided against it.
I've never heard of this, in fact I had cortisone injs years back and had no side affects,
Has anyone here found this to be true? does it have this affect on some and not others.
I just felt what a silly woman when she's in so much pain.

getting confused with daily steroid doses for chronic conditions all sorts of side effects most of which are preferable to the alternative

<<<<I've never heard of this<<<< and neither have I.

Hirsutism is caused by the increase in Androgen ( make hormones) and not cortisone secretion.
my dog was on steroid tablets and temporarily lost hair...I was told this is quite common and it regrew when the steroid dose was stopped
when my sis was very poorly she was on oral steroids for months which did make some facial hair grow eventually. an occasional injection of cortisone defo doesn't have that effect.
I have actually heard of this - try these links and see if it fits.

This is not to say that this was what your neighbour was talking about but it indicates that she 'may' have a point.
