my husband has two VERY painful callouses on the ball of his foot. Any suggestions how best to relieve the pain. I read about wearing 'crocs' in a recent question about Plantar Fascitus', has anyone tried these for callouses please. Any suggestions gratefully received, rosy

Why doesn't he have them treated professionally?
Question Author
Thank you for replying Naomi. He does have them treated at the chiropodist, but they are back in no time at all, usually within a week, and at £26 for about 20minutes it is getting rather expensive which is why he is wondering about the crocs.rosy
You're welcome. Does the chiropodist say his shoes are causing it? I've never worn Crocs, but a lot of people seem to think they're wonderful, so maybe that's the answer. It would do no harm to try them.
definitely DONT try this.....hehehe

pedeggs are brilliant. also keep feet soft with either a foot cream or vaseline - use at night and wear cotton socks. keeping callouses at bay is an ongoing exercise.
Question Author
Thank you both for your replies. The chiropodist doesn't say what he thinks is causing them, he just scrapes them out then puts the foam rubber pads over them, with sticky tape. They go flat very soon, so I guess he may be better off with the crocs - as you say, no harm in trying them.
Thank you too Tamborine for that link. I never ever think of looking at youtube for anything, and that pedegg looks hopeful. rosy

Uggghhhhh.... you just put me right off youtube tamborine, I nearly threw up - very impressed with his lovely clean fingernails tho..........
Thank you carmalee for your very good advice too rosy
Crocs are the most comfortable thing you will ever put on your feet but they must be authentic crocs not the cheapy ones.
rosy....how old is the OH ?
He will be ok.
goodness me I agree with Ratter!! ;-)
PS is he sure they are just callouses and not veruccas?
Woofgang, you go steady now!!

RosyPosy, If it is just hard cracked skin apply "flexitol" heel balm twice a day, it really works well, we use it on all our old folk with the same problem in the home, great stuff, highly recommended.
Question Author
Thank you all for your good avice. I will get Flexitol and he will try the 'real' crocs. (I have the cheapy ones for the garden and I must say they are very comfortable - except for when the soil get in the holes!!!) Thanks again, best regards rosy
Rosy, you can get Crocs without the holes now :-)
Question Author
