HI

When you go to buy tights and stockings is it the higher the denier number the thicker they are or is it the other way round? I am just getting confused trying to buy myself some new ones off the internet and i can't actually look at them like i usually do.

thanks

higher = thicker
The higher the number the thicker they are. Something like 5 is really sheer whereas 40 is your thick opaques.
Higher denier = thicker pair of tights.

I wear 10/15 denier glossy for showing legs and 40 denier + on black tights when it's cold.
I can't remember the last time I bought tights or stockings but yes the higher the number the thicker the denier . 10 denier for example is very sheer .60 denier is thick like those opaques .
The higher the denier, the thicker they are. 60denier would be opaque winter tights and 10denier would be very light - the sort you usually put a nail thru when putting them on! Good luck!
