The best way is to let it go cold then when the fat 'sets', you can just take it off.
Put a few ice cubes in, and the fat will stick to them, hope this helps
Why is the heading extra lean mince if there's loads of fat? - Anyway, let it go cold and lift it off, or drop ice cubes in and the fat with stick to the ice cubes and you can remove it that way. Failing that, put it through a sieve, run through with boiling water and start again with the gravy.

merciasounds i'll have to ask the supermarket why it was so fatty,i did'nt expect that amount,it is cold just now so i think i will get as much as i can get out with a spoon(i have no ice cubes)
I expect it was not just extra lean but extra fat as well, all for the same price. Now all you want is extra gristle and ligaments and you'll be back as you were :-)
Take it back!! Honestly - if it is supposed to be extra lean mince and there's loads of fat, then it's obviouly not what it says it is, with extra lean there should be no more than a tablespoon of fat at the most.

take it back? can you imagine me walking into tesco's with a pot of mince'they will think i'm bringing them dinner?
Take the pakaging or just the front, or failing that, the receipt back, and tell them about the fat!! they should re-imburse you the cost

That has to be the best visual comedy I've pictured all week!
This is why I don't like Tescos! Every time i've been in one of those supermarkets I've had something wrong, seedless grapes that weren't, out of date box of biscuits, 'extra strong' cheddar that tasted of soap...
Question Author
yeah i still have the receipt, will i just scoop the fat into the packaging and take that along with the receipt
Mercia and I brought some soap that made me smell like cheese!
Was this it?

I prefer morrisons, I find tesco are trying to compete too much with making things cheaper and not always great
i don't think you need to take the fat, i had crispy duck from tesco's once and it came mnius the hoisin i took it back and complained got my money back

that i had hoisin in the fridge already was irrelevant
I love Tesco for my weekly shop............however I go to my local butcher for my fresh meat.

i live quite near all the big supermarkets, not keen on asda meat, lidl, sainsbury's,i will get my next lot of mince out of morrisons and see if i can'taste the differance.thanks for all the 'fatty'hints.
I agree with mercia -for once..lol
DO take the receipt back..and complain LOUDLY!!
And since you can't take the mince...take a picture on your mobile...either of the mince swimming in grease..or of all the grease that you drain from it.Threaten to post it on the internet if they are resistant-tho I doubt they will be.
