Why don't palms and soles tan??

Why don't you get a suntan on the palm or your hands or the soles of your feet??

I thought they did?? Maybe just not as much because were always using them,and the epidermis is always repairing itself, so we loose the tan much quicker... Whenever i go tanning in the booths, my palms tan...but the tan doesnt stay for long, and its not as tanned as the rest of me, but i noticed it!

They don't because the skin is thicker and different to other parts of the body

The same reason that black peoples palms aren't a different colour to the rest of their bodies

The skin on you soles and palms only tan slightly because they have less melanin in the skin in that area, the amount of melanin in you skin determines if you tan and how dark you tan.
