Hi

Is it normal for a nearly 3 year old to have a vaginal bleed? She had one in feb, and it happened to be a urine infection, after going to a&e and being seen by a paediatrician, he gave us antibiotics. But now its happened again, and im worried it could be more than a urine infection, maybe something more underlying kidneys etc!

She will be seeing her gp again tomorrow, but just hoped that you could shed some light on it. thanks very much.

suzie...not sure what you mean by vaginal bleed. Do you mean it is coming from her vagina which is unusual for a 3yr old and needs investigation or do you mean that the blood is in her urine? Either way you need a medical opinion based on an examination.

Nothing sinister or serious come to mind suzie.

Keep us informed.
im no doctor but i would say if its coming from her vagina then, no it wouldnt be a urine infection, however if its coming through the urethra then chances are it is. either way you need to seek medical treatment, as a parent myself i can imagine your worried sick :(. good luck suzie xxxx

its coming from her vagina, i saw blood on her underwear and there was yellowish colour to it aswell, this was investigated in feb, and they gave her antibiotics after checking urine etc and an examination, and she was fine after that, but now that it has happened again, im so worried that it could be something worse, that they have missed, doctor said he was gonna refer her to a specialist re kidneys, but im still waiting. thanks for input guys.

Just to update you all..we went to the gp and after several urine tests, it has become clear that this is not a urine infection, we have to take another urine sample on Monday, after that, we will be referred to a specialist.

As she goes to crèche for 4 days a week, i got suspicious that it could be something sinister...{u know what i mean}, but after a good chat with the crèche and doctor, i don't think that now, {i watch to many news articles},but as a mum i worry about these things, you hear about it in the news all the time.

Also this happened the second time, and the first time she was in crèche, but this time she was at home with us, and i watch the kids like a hawk, in case they hurt themselves......just cannot understand this, and i feel im the only one panicking, the doc seemed relaxed about it.
