Hi
My friend told me that a retired neighbour of hers got £500 from a charity towards the cost of her Poll Tax and also £235 for a new mattress for her bed. They are also paying £3000 to put in a shower in her bathroom.
I am not sure if she got all this help from the same charities but I cannot understand how she is getting help when she owns her own home.
She owns a four-bedroom house.
My mother lives in rented accomadation and does not have any savings can she apply for some of these things e.g a new mattress etc?
My mother only has her state pension plus another £40 a month from a private pension to live on.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like social services if she is unable to get in and out the bath then yes they will help her out ,maybe with mattresses too.........that is presuming she is old or disabled and they feel she needs the help ....her doctor would have gave her the information she needed to get in contact with them and they would have done an assessment in her home for what she required
thanks lady i could not remember the name of that one my ex motherinlaw got help from age concern ,
