I have just recived the letter inviting my two children to receive the vaccine, my daughter who is 13 months and my son who is nearly 5 and has suspected asthma. I just wanted peoples opinons on it? have you had your children done, what are the side effects? etc! Both myself and my husband had the vaccine before xmas and we were both fine but that doesnt mean my children will be!

my 2 year old daughter had it a couple of weeks ago, the only side effect was a sore bum that day, which she gets with jab's anyway, as I think do most children? It's a good idea to get it done, especially if your son has asthma, as swine flu would be quite serious for him. The way I see it, it's better to be protected than run the risk, especially if a more virulent strain emerges in the next year or two. :D
mummy....if a more virulent strain pops up, then H1N1 has changed it'e antigenic structure and the present vaccine would be useless.
but your child would already have been exposed to the virus in a miniscule form (the jab) and so would be better equipped to deal with further outbreaks, not saying they wouldn't get the more virulent strain, just that the child would be better equipped to deal with it than with no jabs at all!
mummy...it doesn't work that way.
