I was in a car crash in October and one of the injuries that I sustained was a lateral fracture of my C6 vertebra. The fracture was stable thankfully however in the last few weeks I have noticed a tingling sensation in part of my hand and my middle, ring and little finger. I was wondering if this could be related in any way to the injury?
I thought that if it was related to the fracture then I should have notiuced ity before however until relatively recently I have been in quite an amount of pain from various other injuries and maybe that was why I didn't notice it previously?
It might not be connected at all but either way, what tests could be done to see what it is?
Thanks

The problem that you are describing is due to irritation of the lower trunk of the Brachial Plexus almost certainly due to the fracture of C6.

An MRI of your cervical spine would be necessary in your case.

Thanks sqad - could it be serious?
No, probably just an osteophyte (Boney spur) probably on C6, but an MRI will soon bring that to light.

and the treatment would be . . . ?

Also meant to ask whether it is normal to only notice the tingling after so long ie 4 months?
Treatment...physiotherapy +or- heat treatment.

Last resort ...surgical excision.

Yes. it is normal for symptoms to come on after a period of time.
