Id invest in a weights bench as opposed to a full gym, free weights have always been the best way way to burn fat and adevelop muscle at the same time, Sure you have the machines that assist you in certain excercises but keep in mind that they take away from your smaller muscle groups asyou are not using these to stabalise the weight during reps.

Ive used free weights for years and as a result have maintained a healthy phsique. But what I know I know from personal experience.

thanks for your reply Iprazak wondered if you could recommend a good weights bench that would fit nicely in a fairly small spare bedroom. tia
Fruitslad if your on a budget and want a decent little home gym in your spare room then this one is cool mate http://www.argos.co.u...chtext%3EHOME+GYM.htm if you go on ebay then you will get one of these second hand for between £60-£90 got mine off there for £61 and its doing a nice job. Still worth the £149.99 in Argos aswell, just been reduced from £180
There are cardio exercises on the wii fit like jogging and hula hooping, as well as yoga and muscle workouts. I lost 2 stone using the wii fit! I added wrist and ankle weights to include some weight training in the routine. I can't recommend it enough!
