hi all, i would like to ask people who have had miscarriages before if they would be willing to share with me what it was like please. As far as i am aware i am infertile (after having tests) so i don't use any contraception. I had a nrmal period in the beginning of october, but 2 days after it finished i started to get small spotting every day. Now it is time for my period again, but last night i had what a can only describe as a "haemmorhage" - around ten really big clots, plus such a heavy flow it was almost pumping out down my legs, on the floor. Some of the clots had "tissue" attached (i.e., not red,but white ish fibrous material) IM SO SORRY FOR THE DESCRIPTIONS.
I have NEVER experienced anything like this before Things have slowed a lot this morning and it is now just like a normal heavy period. Do i need to worry? I was going to call NHS direct last night, but was worried they would think i was just an hysterical woman. Would anyone with common sense and/or experience tell me what this experience sounds like?

I'm sorry I don't have any similar experiences to share with you, but I would suggest you definitely go to the doctor. As you pointed out, it is not at all what you are used to so get yourself checked out. If only to see whether the doc an do anything to prevent it happening again.

Hope you're ok, sounds very distressing
i had the same problem, but i was 16weeks pregnant at the time, but i didnt lose my baby, u may be pregnant, it could be a haemmorage, or it could may well be a heavy period, but you should definatly go see doctor in case you are pregnant and haemoraged as its not always that severe, even when you bleed so much, the baby can survive it, but not seeing anyone could make things worse. good luck and let us know how you got on, hope its gonna be ok.
The pragmatic view?

If you were pregnant.......you are not now.

I do not know what you mean by "tests" for infertility, but I would presume that you saw a Gynaecologist and had salpingograms and anovular cycles were diagnosed......i.e you were infertile.

There are many other causes of heavy periods and I should wait until this one finishes and see what the next period is like.

If it is similar, then you should seek medical opinion.

tthanks for everyone's sensible advice. I blooming hope i am not/was not pregnant squad, so your post reassures me :)
Yes, as regards tests i had blood test which showed the progesterone level was really low, ultrasound which showed the uteral lining was too thin (due to steroids) and folicular tracking which showed basically that i had lots of cysts. therefore i have resigned myself to never having children.
I have a gp appointment next week where i will ask about this. It was just so shocking and surprising, i didn't know what on earth to think or do
did you want children? if so im sorry that you cant have them, but these days miracles happen, its always possible to have a child, one way or another. best of luck and hope ur back to your old self soon. x
