I don't think it's a dragon fly - its way too big. It has a long yellow and black striped body, huge green eyes, beautiful black lacy wings and is over 3.5 inches long. I tried to post a photo on a web site but to no avail. Can anyone help without seeing a photo. Thank you.

Robinia, I noticed the pic you linked to was on Wild ABout Britain. Are you a member? I was trying to post a pic of the fy on there are failed miserable although somebody has nowposted it on my behalf. You'll be able to see it here I hope:
