has anyone been to see one? if so what is it like?

i have never been a confident person and it is really affecting me =( i want to find ways to boost my confident for being me. i get really upset or really nervous when i try to talk about myself -because i hate myself so much i just cant find positive things about me. so i hardly talk about myself and never wanted to unless i had to.

from many job interviews i have been to, i never pass the next stage, only because all my feedback mentions that they dont feel i will fit in, due to the fact i come a cross a shy and nervous person and that they are worry that i may struggle with the intense work. they say i need to be more assertive... i know this is true about me being nervous etc but i know i can do the work. but cos of my low self esteem and lack of confidents its hard to convince them, it does take me time to get used to the environment then i will be fine, but i guess everywhere dosnt want to employ a softy. :'(

i just need some help to boost my confident and i wonder whether attending one of these confidence & communication coach session would help me- and how do i go about it?... i dont know much about it, but would be great if someone has attended to one of these or similar had helped them. thanks

Hi WhiteBears...I think that would be a good idea. I have a couple of friends that deliver life coaching, public speaking and confidence building in workshops and one to one. It might be useful, in the first instance for you to attend as assertiveness class to give you a base line to work from. You probably have a number of very positive traits that have become buried because of your anxiety and it can be useful to identify them.
I have attended a number of training in this are and I would certainly recommend them. Enjoy for they are fun. :-)

Hi Whitebears :-) I agree with razzle assertive classes is a great way to start I did 1 a couple of years ago an not only is it a brilliant class u get to meet people who feel exactly the same which does actually build ur confidence on it's own because it makes u realise it's not just u there's lots of people feel the same way ... Look to ur local college an enroll u won't look back ... Good luck :-) x
Also......sometimes you need to accept the person you are and stop beating yourself up.
I have been to an confidence class - didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I expect an assertiveness class would be the same too.

Fact is we know what confidence and assertiveness is we just need to HAVE IT and these courses don't magically make you into that person overnight.

I think the best way to gain confidence and assertiveness is to do things whether it is social activities with friends or whether it is a part time weekend/temporary job in your local cafe/supermarket, just do things, but push yourself out of you're boundaries too and don't be afraid to be yourself.

Good luck whitebears, I know how frustrating this can be! xxx
I lived for many many years like this as I was in a violent relationship and was called names every single day.
I really hated myself and it was so bad I couldn't even look in the mirror.
Everything changed when I finally had the courage to leave this man.
Slowly, I replaced the thoughts I had with positive ones about myself, told myself I was beautiful and attractive.
Recently I have been to see Sue Stone who runs courses, she is a life coach, as I was being bullied at work and I could feel the negative taking over again.
Please look on her website, as over the years I have paid good money to see people etc and she is the best I have ever been too.
If you want my email address, I am willing to help you too as I feel I would like to support anyone I can as I have been there.
You have the power within yourself to make the changes you need you just need support x
