Can anyone tell me why I have felt ill ever since I gave up smoking 7 months ago?
Has anyone else had the same experience?
I thought I would feel a million dollars!!!!!!!!!
I will never start again, but it makes me wonder why on earth I did do it, if this is the way I will feel all the time.
Many thanks

how do you feel?
Have you been to the doctors for a check up
Could you have an underlying lung infection or somthing that wont clear up?
Your body takes a long time to adjust to the lack of nicotine (and other poisons) in cigarettes. You will start to feel better one day but nobody can tell you exactly when unfortunately.

I would also advise a visit to the GP to check for any pre-existing illness......just to be on the safe side.
When my bil stopped smoking he coughed for months and literally felt weak (probably from the coughing) he never coughed when he smoked. But all a sudden the coughing stopped his skin brightened up and his life too. Hope this applies to you too.
When I stopped smoking I just felt depressed; it was like grieving but that cleared up after a year and I'm so glad I stopped. In fact, there are no good reasons for smoking if only I'd learnt that as a teenager!

I stopped smoking 8 years ago .. and up until around 6 1/2 yrs I was still getting bad colds, chest infections and all sorts of viruses non-stop. I now take a multi-vit daily and presto - feel so much better. Of course, everyone is different and you must persevere as smoking is such a waste of everything!! Anyway - congratulations on ditching the evil weed - you will benefit in all sorts of ways very soon -I am sure.
Well Done, you. All the advice above sounds good. I want to know how you did it. I'm still struggling to stop
Here's to zita green.
If you want to but really want to, you can. You decide to stop and though it's hard in the first 48 hours (addiction) and you give yourself no excuse and that's important NO EXCUSE to have a cigarette, within a couple of days you've cracked it. THEN it's the habit that kicks in, here again NO EXCUSE. You're on the other side and the lovely feeling of walking on a mountain topped with snow makes you feel wonderful.
You can feel down at first, but that's all part of the therapy...
Give it a go and tell us how you're getting on.... It's such a lovely feeling once you're controlling your own life...
coccinelle, you make it sound easy and wonderful. I want to know how you did it. Thanks for responding.
Here's a way that makes things easier for those who want to stop smoking.
i was advised to sip from bottled still water everytime I felt like lighting up.
The urge for nicotine peaks at around 30 seconds, but returns again shortly afterwards.
Keep just having one or two little sips of water at that time.
After a week, smoking won't seem like such a good idea. You might still fancy a ciggie, but you won't crave one.
I smoked quite a lot in my teens, but I've not gone back to it. Good luck.
I put up a post on e-ciggies and it was banned? :(
perhaps it's all part of the general smoking ban then tamb!!! : )
Here`s another way..sip from a bottle of ice cold bud, mmmm, take another sip...mmmmm, take a ciggy from the pack....light it...take another sip...take a drag of the ciggy..head spinning? take another sip then finish the ciggy,

head spinning?

Give up
LOl - that's opne good way I suppose - but what happens if you don't drink alcohol any more...like me?? : (
Do the same from a bottle of water but then sipping water doesn`t warrant the need for a ciggy

Give up beer
To the first bit - true - that's how I was able to give the ciggies up! : )

Never liked beer or lager very much, but a bottle of vodka or champagne could go down quite nicely. Same with some others.....
Does absinthe make the heart grow fonder...or is absinthance the best way????
Absinthe just sounds like a p!ssed word anyway lol
Lol - And literally - poison.
Night Elvis and everyone. x
