Hi All
I have an old injury of a slipped disc , and recently slipped it again approx 5 weeks ago. The inflamation has gone down thankfully. However I am trying to lose weight and wish to tone up my tummy muscles to help my posture and support my spine and back. I want to know what exercises to perform to help tone up but not so severe that I put my back out again as at anytime I overdo it my back weakens. Please help folks!

You always need to exercise muscles in pairs, so if exercising front of arm, you need to do back of arm too. Similarly,if you're doing tummy muscles, need to do back (and side) too.

Something like pilates would be ideal,it's what my chiropracter recommends. Or something no impact like swimming which uses a lot of core muscles, ones you don't often use elsewhere. Or consult a physio, just so you can get the required exercises and the correct way to perform them, which is really important where backs are concerned.

Hope it gets better soon
if your back is dodgy (seems an understatement) you don't want to be jumping about until you have some tone to hold it all together

one of those electric pad (slendertone) jobbies.

they got a bad name because the claim was you'd loose weight ... which is rubbish - but it is accepted that they build a degree of muscle tone and are used by the nhs physios
