Have been on Mirtazapine for 3 months and seem to have dizziness and worsening anxiety on them. Was doing okay at first and asked to swop medication. Doctor prescribed citalopram and I had a nasty reaction on the first tablet so went back on the mirtazapine. Second time around the anxiety seemed worse! The Doctor has now prescribed Dosulepin 100mg at night. Still coming off the mirtazapine, but would be interested if anyone knew about these anti depressants? Many Thanks

if you can - ditch them ...
you need to talk to the doctor and get an opinion as to why you are proscribed these drugs

I know it's difficult - but they are often just crutches - they work by taking the "you" out of you.
and for the doctor - they are often a kneejerk convenience
you say depressed - they say pills - you leave without a fuss

the longer you take them - the less fuss you'll make

it depends why you are depressed ... I would never say just stop - that would be irresponsible
but long term usage isn't a good option.

and it sounds as if your body is trying to tell you that

Often there are many ways to live with your depression - when the black dog comes visiting - in the long term it will improve. even if it's only because you can accept the cycle

It may not be an easy transition - sometimes it involves very hard life changing decisions - sometimes it's as easy as adopting a dog and taking regular long walks.

but you should try to find what's there for you
I've been on Mirtazapine 30g for months......I have the dizziness side effect so I don't ever drive in the mornings, but they definitely get rid of my anxiety. However, as I don't like taking them I gradually decreased the dosage from 1 tablet each night to half a tablet which seems sufficient. I now don't take them as a matter of routine but just when I feel i need them. I know this is not how you are supposed to use this drug but (touch wood) it seems okay for me.

thanks for your answers
Hi, yes i was on Dothiepin for years but i was taking them for a relaxant at night due to grinding my teeth, had no real problems while taking them other than feeling very tired during the day, even though i took the pill at night, but i had no real problems and i was on them for quite a few years.

Have been coming off the Mirtazapine and am now on nothing for 3 days (the anxiety has been awful and I can't sleep) , think they might be withdrawal symptoms!

Have continued working and am still running round after two children! Will let you know at the weekend how I get on! Thanks for your reply.
I have been on 15 mg mirtazapine for bereavement 6 months. It helped at first. Then went up to 30mg
Now I have been advised to wean of having 15mg at night and 10mg aropax in the morning.
The anxiety - agitation is unbelievable. No wonder people overdose and take their own lives. I said I was concerned about this happening. I was told it would be ok. It\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s hard to get hold of the doctor and only four days available. Normally I I have 1/2 serepax I take at nigh for sleep I have been on 6monthst. It helped me get peace for from Midnight til 6am.
This is my third day. Going crazy. Have to have medical scans etc and can\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t do it like this. Decided myself to take 3/4 serepax this morning it finally gave me a few hours rest. I checked with the doctor she said that\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s ok for a couple of days to take up to 3 in a day and come of the aropax. She thinks the aropax is s the problem. To stop taking it. So maybe if I get some peace for the next day or so I might try taking 30mg mirtazapine for a few days and cut donw to 3/4 mirtazapine - my decision and take it from there.
Any comments welcome. Grandma
