What does everyone think about this new " wonder pill "   that will possibly be out next year, supposedly helping to combat smoking, drinking & obesity? (Know what i'll be having for christmas next year!!) Joking aside, do you think that it's right to take pills for this sort of thing, or should we stick with JUST good old fashioned exercise, healthy eating & willpower?  I'm in two minds about it, but then, i'm not obese and i don't smoke.

...because the pill checks to see whether you're weak willed and then decides not to work..?

I'm not sure I follow how the chemical effects of a pill are dictated by someone's will power. Either it works or it doesn't. Presumably the clinical tests show that it does.

Looking at the trials evidence, it would appear that the benefits on weight are great, however it does also require a strict 600 calorie a day reduction in the overall diet in order to be effective. Most slightly overweight people would show some benefit from this reduction alone. It is obese people who show the maximum combined benefit of the reduction and the drug.

this pill wont be available in uk for 5 years.once you start taking it you are obliged to take it for the rest of your life..it is only a matter of time before their is a healthscare concerning it like their is for hrt at the moment.a pill will not cure every ones problems..i would be extremely suspiciouse of it..as their is no long term research and by the time people see the negative of it then its too late..i think to be safe we should all accept our fate of diet and exercise...mullein
