Has anyone undergone accupuncture in order to stop smoking? How successful was it? I'm seriously considering doing it. I've had hypnotherapy before, which did have an impact but not enough to allow me to quit for good. I would welcome anyoines experiences. Thanks.

I've given you three stars for a great link, but you've popped my balloon! It seems scientifically it doesn't have any effect. I would have been quite happy for it to have worked psychosomatically. Oh well.

I have just started to attend classes to stop smoking. In week number one I have to delay my first cigarette of the day by half an hour and the same with my first when I arrive home from work.I also have had to change to a different brand.I've done this and don't like the taste of the new brand so find I'm not so keen to smoke them. Two simple steps so far and I have noticed myself cuttiing down already by doing them.Apparently within 4-6 weeks I should be off them completely.I'm looking forward to my next session to see what my next few steps will be and I'm feeling very positive. The girl taking the course isn't in the slightest judgemental and its a big help to have her encouragement.

Oh well Headtime! Bunni has some good ideas!!

For what it's worth, and it may not be any help to you, I firmly believe that the only way to quit smoking is to go cold turkey. No patches, no gum, no 'cutting down', no reliance on other people or treatment. You have to want to do it and you just have to do it for yourself and by yourself. I stopped smoking on 30th June 2004 and I am well over the worst of it. I went completely cold turkey for just one day. Then for just one more day. Then for another day. Just do it. Get rid of all your tobaco, fags etc and then just walk past the shop. It will be hard at times, but you only have to get past one craving at a time. You can do it if you want to.
