Hello all

I need some advice im going through a divorce after years of domestic abuse.
I have had to wait 2 years because he would not agree to divorce me.

Last year I fell in love and I am now engaged to marry. (ex hubby knows this)

When it has come to sorting out the divorce disclosure, he is playing nasty.

Im only going for half of the house which as his wife for 8 years I have been told I'm entitled.

But he is now being nasty and trying to get half of my car, which is only worth 750
And my engagement ring from my new fiance worth3k

Is he allowed to go after the ring, as I do not own it and never paid for it. And was given to me a year after I moved out

Im not trying to screw him over etc we have two kids and I want the house money so I can give them a better life.
Thanks

What a chancer!
Your engagement ring is nothing to do with him!
Try not to meet him head on.....negotiate by offering to give him back the ring he gave you instead ....that's reasonable. My thinking is that something so personal that was gifted after Separation should have nothing to do with the Settlement.
Sorry - never thought I'd say this ..screw him, if you can - he deserves it!!!!!!!!1

i feel so down its like he is bulling me all over again.
domestic abuse is about control. He is losing you for good now... the divorce is the final chapter in the book. He is trying to assert something over you in one final gasp for breath. Dont let him win. you may not be strong now... but you have to stand up to him on this one! Your confidence will certainly benefit! He does not have the right to any engagement ring either! DONT GIVE UP!!!! or else you are letting him win
