Easy ways to lose weight?

When I was younger, my body could cope with everything, burning it off almost instantly but now I'm slightly older every little thing seems to stick to me, even a single biscuit seems to make me put on weight :/
I've tried countless diets and not eating hardly anything but nothing seems to work, I'm still gaining weight.
All the exercise I can really do is short walks, as I have no exercise equipment, no money to join a gym, and I don't live in a good enough area to be going round on my own.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me, like what to avoid eating, what to eat more of, any simple exercises which don't require equipment, stuff like that?
My main problem areas are my arms and stomach.

Also get some hand weights and a pedometer. You can use it to 'walk' in the evenings in front of the tv,-or with some music, and with the pedometer you can work up to doing 10,000 steps per day.
Cut out bad snacks...eat lots of fruit and veg,and good protein. Don't cut back to nothing...your body needs fuel.
You don't need to buy hand weights - use tins from your larder.
I think Michael Winner had the best diet ever. Eat less!

It's a common thing as we age that any surplus weight goes straight onto the stomach, grrrr!

Hi JLC. There are things your body loves and things it really thinks are just mystery foods. Biscuits would be part of the latter category Look into low-glycemic diet or a good one is eating clean. Tosca Reno has a book on the Eat Clean Diet. When you eat natural foods from the Earth (unprocessed) your body feels much better, no cravings, no feeling sluggish, and fat melts away. :) Try it. Tosca Reno is 50... and she looks amazing. Oh... eat every few hours, too. Your metabolism has less reason to hold onto fat. I've tried what I'm writing and it works!
When you were younger you probably had more muscle which burns calories even while resting. Just doing stretching exercises, squats etc can build up muscle and tone you up and you'll notice you lose weight.
I posted on here a couple of months ago about a swollen stomach, got advice and now it's gone!
