I play a lot of five a side and a year or so ago I twisted my hip. I went to am physio who gave me actupunctre and massage which sort of helped but I still feel pain in my left buttock. It really aches and is purely muscle related. I can't afford any more physio so can anyone recommend some cream or lotion that would sooth the muscle and also allow me to play sport.

The gluteus maximus is a big, deep muscle and responds more slowly to massage etc, and can take ages to heal. I found the tennis ball massage helped - squish a tennis ball between the hurting bit and the wall, and roll it around. But be prepared for a longer time than with a pulled leg muscle before it is back to normal.
