Go to royalmail.com and enter your Recorded Delivery number in their tracking system. You will receive a status update. If the parcel is lost, then get a claim form from the Post Office and you'll be refunded. That refund will include the cost of the item and the postage paid.

You can also send the receipt to the ebay buyer. I've done that before, and they have claimed.

Thanks ! I'll do that.
Use the following link and put in your 13 digit reference number, it will tell you if it has been delivered.

Contact Royal Mail, as recorded delivery means the item must be signed for. They will know what has happened to the item, and should compenmsate you if it can't be found.
And good info here:

You won't get compensated for full value unless it is worth less than 36 - the maximum is 36 unless you took out insurance. You don't get the cost of postage back.

Yes, Royal Mail don't consider anything to be missing until 15 working days after posting - that's 3 weeks.
By enetring the recoreded delivery reference it will ONLY tell you if it has been delivered, unike special delivery where itactually tracks it for you

Thanks all. I put in the 13 digit number and it says it has been delivered but the other person has denied getting it ! I have told them this and I'm now just waiting for them to reply !
If they are denying receipt, and R.M say it has been, you just need to check that RM delivered it to the correct place, so ask in what name it was signed for. It has been known for them to ask a neighbour to sign if you were out, in which case you need to ask the neighbour. It has also been known for them to just deliver to the wrong address. Again, checking the name signed should determine this.

If the name matches, then they are obviously trying to pull a fast one, so just restate royal mail has the signature, and therefore it has been proven to e delivered. If they take it up with ebay, then you will need to provide ebay with the tracking detais and proof from RM of signature, and you should be fine.
