I NEED MY BELLY BUTTON PIERCED

I'm 14 I REALLY REALLY want to get my button pierced soooooo bad. I'm not worried about the pain I'm usually good with handling pain, but my mom WON'T GO FOR IT, I asked her if I can get it at 16 and she's like no 18. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get her to say yes. The only reason she doesn't want me to is becuz she thinks it's * * ** ty PLZ SOMEONE GIVE ME IDEAS BECUZ I CAN'T WAIT TIL 18.

You can get these magnet things for your belly button to simulate a piercing - two magnets, and the flap of skin at the top of your belly button goes in between.
Re: getting your b-button pierced at 14... you're not going to like it, but I say wait a bit. For one thing, piercings have been a fad for many years now, and they're due to become un-popular any time now. What may look cool now, when you remove the piercing, will be an unpleasant scar when piercings go out of fashion.
Also - when I got my belly button pierced, it took 4 months to heal. Really - 4 months. Belly buttons are notorious for getting infected after you pierce them, because they are right on the waist line of pants, and it's hard to keep them from getting rubbed.
Also - think about 15 years down the road. When I got pregnant, after the first 6 months I had to take the ring out because my belly was so tight that the ring was uncomfortable. Now my belly button is the only place I have stretch marks, because of the belly button scar.
I'm not saying nobody should get their belly buttons pierced, but I think you should wait until you're an adult to decide about doing permanent things to your body.
I totally sympathise! But it's worth knowing that piercing your navel is not the same as you ears or nose; theres a lot of lymph seepage and it takes a really long time before it heals - anything from six weeks to four months.
If you can't make do with a magnetic one or a clip-on, here's some pointers.
1. You'll have problems finding a reputable piercer who'll do the job if you're underage. If you do decide to go ahead with it, make sure that they use a needle, not a gun - in fact, NEVER have a piercing done with a gun. They spray blood plasma everywhere and are virtually impossible to sterilise properly.
2. Try and find a piercer that is just a piercer on their own right, rather than some yahoo in a tattoo shop or jewellry store.
3. Start of with a ring made from stainless steel, niobium or titanium. These are hypoallergenic and will not react with your body. Gold is good too if you like it and can afford it, but NOT silver (it can and will react in a navel piercing) and NEVER, EVER any gold plate or silver plate. The plating can wear off and get into the wound.
I'm not advocating that you do this by the way - it's totally your own choice. But if you do, I hope this is of some help.
Oh HighHopes just to give u an example ...a couple of years ago Posh Beckham went on stage in one of those parties in the Park and she had a lip ring on her lower lip...this was when they were in fashion....she grabs the mike says hello and tells everyone that she's just had her lip pierced and "It hurts like hell" next day in newspaper shows a couple of teenagers angry with Posh cos she told a fib (it was only a clip on ring in her lip) but the teenagers had gone and had the real thing done cos if Posh has they had to have one too.... So...don't be led by attention grabbers into harming ur body... its the most precious possession u will ever have.... EVER!
This is typical - how can you possibly think that you know better than your mum? Your mum loves you (she can't help it!!) and will always tell you what's best for you - even if you don't see it. She's been around a bit longer than you have and knows about these things. One of the greatest tragedies with human development is that kids just won't listen to their parents. Just think how much further the human race would have developed if everything learned by parents was taken on board by their kids. Whoops - got a bit carried away there!

Ok well here's the deal I don't want it at 14 i never said that i can wait til 16, but I'm not sure she's gonna go for it she thinks it'll grab "the wrong kind of attention" personally i don't think so i already have "the wrong kind of attention." Also where I live it is legal to get your belly button peirced with a parent's permission hence me trying to get my mom to say yes. Anyways ty soooo much for your help i'm guessing if i get good grades and do her favors by 16 it'll be too hard for her to say no! :)

2. If you had to choose between being friends with your mum or getting your body stabbed, which would you go for?
Would you be happy looking at the hole in your belly knowing that it cost you your relationship with your mum.
Will you be happy that you had it done when you're 25 and a guy you want says - "Uuuuuuuuuuuggghhhhh - what's that??? - No way!!!.
Are you ready for the infections? You'll look good in your hippy jeans and cropped top with a yellow scab on show!! :-)

K Merlin please stop, 1. It won't cost me my relationship w/ my mom and she'd make me take it out and have it fill in before our relationship was ruined. 2. I can't get it without her permission so it won't ruin our relationship. 3. Guys I know like belly button rings plus if I guy i like didn't like mine I'd take it out for him. Thanks for the advise, but I've got all that under control
