i purchased a hair cut. paid up front in cash and asked for receipt. the only paper they had to write it on was a gift certificate. i then cancelled. they say because it was written on gift certificate cant refund. there are no terms and conditions on paper no expiry date. i was not told i would therefore not get refund is this legal ?

ive never heard of anyone paying in advance for a hair cut ! shame they didnt just refund you tho
a receipt is a receipt no matter what it's written on. You didn't get your haircut, you should get a refund. (Unless they have signs around the place saying 'No Refunds').
Why the hell did you pay for a haircut in advance? Was the 'receipt' signed by anyone? Why don't you just get your haircut now you have paid?
As far as I can see they are correct. You entered into a contract and paid up front. They didn't break the, contract you did. Why should you get a refund,
