I know this is shallow, but did anyone else worry their baby would be a bit on the ugly side? Is it true all mothers think their babies are beautiful, even if they are not? My partner is a lovely guy, but wasn't blessed with the best facial looks, I really hope baby will be healthy, but also look more like me and not daddy.

Just be thankful it`s healthy, worrying about its looks is kind of selfish

I know it is Elvis, but I'm sure there are other mothers out there who think it, but don't admit to it.

I don't think there are many, Velvetee. To you, your baby's going to be the most beautiful little girl or boy, and as Elvis just said, so long as it's healthy, that's all that matters.
When my second child was born, I thought he looked just like Winston Churchill, but after a few days, his features began to develop in earnest, and though I say it myself, I now have two very handsome sons.
Best of luck.

Thanks Ice
BTW..if your partner is ugly, you obviously love him enough to get you pregnant so what`s the problem?

No problem regarding his looks, just hope baby looks more like me, thats all.
I take it this's your first baby? When are you due?
My eldest looks like Brad Pitt...no complaints from me
Wouldn't be from me, either! : )

It's early days Ice, I'm only 9 weeks and yes it will be my first. I never really thought I'd ever have kids, so it was a huge surprise and shock for us both.
Cheers Icey, my youngest looks like Beckham

Def something wrong somewhere lol
Oh - VERY - if he looks like Beckham does NOW. Doesn't he look a little old for his age??? : )

Same happend to one of my aunties, Velvetee. She was 44 when she had her first - 45 when she had her second. She'd been trying for years, and then suddenly...!!!! She's a fabulous mum though. Her age hasn't stopped her at all. In fact - the children keep her young even now.
Your babe will be as gorgeous as u

Awww......

Well, as my mum says - handsome is, as handsome does. Looks are irrelevant anyway, but when I was at work, one of my colleagues had the misfortune to be born with a facial deformity, which she was terrified of passing onto any children. She ended up with 5 of them - and they were all very attractive children.
my son is 2 and when he was born i noticed he had big ears which stuck about a bit, i kept looking at him wishing his ears were normal. not because i was ashamed but i didnt want him to be teased. he is now 2 and although his ears are still the same i wouldnt change him for the word. he has his own different character and is a well liked child. it dont matter what they look like as long as they are loved they will be happy.
if he notices as he starts school then i will look into having them pinned bk.
lozzy, my son's ears really stuck out but I waited until he said he wanted them pinned back. he was 6 and had seen one of these kids' hospital programmes, and he asked after seeing it done on another child. I don't think it's for us to enforce what we think is acceptable on our kids, or better for them, unless they are suffering in some way.

anyway, he looks a hell of a lot better with them pinned back.. but it was what he wanted!
Ah Velvet, I think you're brave to admit this worry - I'm sure it's more common than some people think, but most people would not want to admit to such a 'shallow' thought.

You will love your baby, no matter whether its a wrinkled prune-like thing or a pampers advert. My daughter when born had 'bumped' her nose on her way out into the world - for her first 4 days of life she looked like a cross between Joe Bugner & a cauliflower. I thought OMG I have a beautiful son who looks like a greek god, and a daughter who looks like a prize fighter.

She grew up to be a very pretty girl & is now a beautiful young woman. But I would have loved her just as much as if she'd stayed looking like Rumpole of the Old Bailey.

Good luck xx
i have a little girl and another on the way and i have to honestly say those thoughts have never crossed my mind, what a funny thing to think about????

i never looked at my self as gorgeous but my daughter is one in a million! she is absolutly beautiful! she seemed to gain all the best features from me and her dad, she has the most amazing personality, caring, loving, kind, can light up the room and my whole life and she can talk for britain!

it would make no difference to me what she looked like at all, i think these feelings will pass, with all the excitement and joy you have to come.

seriously its not something you should be worrying about, i have my 20 weeks scan in 3 weeks and that is a milestone i cant wait to pass, just to know everything is ok and my baby is safe and healthy, i dont think id care if he/she looked like a monkey right now as long as they are well.

there do seem to be an awful lot of ABers who are either pregnant at the moment or have just given birth. So long as one of them's not me - that's great!
