You might try a TENS machine - bought mine from Lloyds Pharmacy chain. Worked wonders for my husband's lower back pain.
Hello DONNA , I can empathise hun , you poor lass , and if you get an answer on here I'll be eager to try it myself as I have arthiritis in my neck and shoulders , and spondylosis but can't take ibrufen , only panadol or Volterol .
Have you been to your gp with it yet ? x

Its only been a week I have been off work with bad headaches and aches and pains they gave me antibiotics for virus but said to take painkillers for neck and shoulder pain, all that is left now is my neck and shoulder pain. just wondered if it is hot or cold you use to ease?
I had really bad lower back pain a while ago, I went to my doctors and they suggested taking some 'non-steroidal anti-inflammatories' tablets. the brand I bought was called cuprofen, they seemed to work wonders for me
Hi Donna,
I suffer with this occasionally. I find if I've carried to heavy a load, that can obviously agravate things. If you're shopping, make sure your bags weight is evenly distributed. Have you ever had an xray? Just wondering about the headaches, could it be a trapped nerve or something? Tens machines are good as are wheat bags that you put in the microwave, they retain heat for about 20 mins. Also anadin extra are very good indeed, the only thing is, not everyone can take them, please read the leaflet inside packaging before buying/ taking. Going back to carrying heavy loads, these days I know my limits, it really does make a difference to be conscious about that! xxx
osteopathy has worked for me. It can be hit-and-miss - no two osteopaths work alike - and the NHS doesn't cover it; but it'd worth a try.
I was going to recommend an osteopath as well.

Voltarol gel is very good too.
I can also recommend Voltarol gel. A heat pad is also quite good. (Like a minature electric blanket).
I would try acupuncture for this - but make sure the acupuncturist is a member of the British Acupuncture Council as they are all well trained. Some doctors, physiotherapist and osteopaths will tell you they do acupuncture but have only done very short courses - maybe just two weekends!
I will back marzipan up on the tens machine I get aches and pains in my neck sometimes and they work wonders
Hi Donna

I have tendonitis in my left shoulder and the only thing that works for me is have a treatment of Bowen. You have 1 treatment now, the next in 7 days and then a follow up in 4 weeks but after 2 treatments I was totally pain free and didnt go back for the 4 week follow up. Its non painful and you are not pushed and poked and twisted into awkward positions. Look up a Bowen practise in your area - after 2 treatments I have had no further problems. All the best
Would really recommend a chiropractor, wonderful for me.

best of luck .
Would also recommend a chiropractor!!
I sympathise with you, it could well be you just have weak bones or are suffering from stress.

Have a good chat with your chiropractor too, as they can do a lot of different things to help, specialised to you.

Good luck.
