Yes I am
Ok let me be the one who asks way you would want to spend more on stamps than you have to? Unless the thickness of the envelope precludes a normal first class stamp?

Well it's all I've got an need to get something posted soon. The shop I got them in gave me large instead of regular. not bothered really as long as I can use 'em.
No you cant be the one
Why didnt you just e mail the letter and save us all the stress of going through all this on here
Ah, yeah, see that :-) They are worth 52p each though, compared to 36p (as I am sure you know lol), so might just be worth saving for the time you may need them? Just a thought ;-)

Ah well I've stuck it on now. Never mind. It's a tax return form an I'm sick of it an just want to get it sent off asap!
It depends on the weight of the envelope.

There are three sizes/classes of letter: letter, large letter and packet. An A5 envelope - technically called a C5 - should go at letter rate provided it's thin enough to fit through the slot on the the size gauge on the post office counter. Otherwise it'll need to go on one of the other tariffs, depending on which slot it will or will not fit though.

See here for sizes: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId =400105&mediaId=47500706

Now, a first class stamp is currently worth 36p and, at letter rate, will allow you to post up to 100g in weight. Large letters and packets have higher minimum rates for your 100g.

Value of contents has nothing to do with what you're charged, unless you opt for special or recorded delivery etc.
