How much, on average, are tattoos? I know it will vary depending on where you go, but I only want a small one on my hip. My ex had one on his arm a few weeks ago and it cost him over 100, so I was just wondering what other people paid for theirs?

I too got a small one on my hip and It cost around 25, this was approx 8/9 yrs ago, but they ar enot too expensive and WELL worth it!!
Yes and they look so nice when you are 80 and they have all blurred into a big blue mess. Something nice to show the grandkids eh?
Yeah, pretty much! A bit of life experience in a tattoo you can't beat. Mine can be shown if I like and hidden if I like and it means something very very personal to me and me only. Please don't judge people.
If you have a cheap one it's because the 'artist' isn't very good.

It's true all the colours fade to a sort of broken thread vein blue, so don't worry about they'll look when you're old.

roosi - people have tattoos to make a statement that says 'look at me, I have a tattoo!'

Sadly, it is so common now it is not much of a statement at all.
My sex life is personal to me too but I wouldn't dream of having it written or drawn in permanent ink on my body forever.
No actually Ethel I obviously wholeheartedly disagree and to be honest, you don't know me from adam so please AGAIN don't even try to begin to judge me. I am an extremely creative and artistic person, who took time and effort to create a very unique and beautiful design for my tattoo which in turn my partner drew for me. He finds this design very attractive too, so to be perfectly honest and with all due respect, it's an extremely individual thing for those people who enjoy expressing themselves. Nothing more.

You don't want any - up to you. Do I judge you for your shallow and absolutely unrealistic judgement of me as a person who wants to say "look at me I have a tattoo"? No I dont.
I hope your next partner appreciates it so much
Lots of things are personal, how I wish to show or hide them has nothing to do with anyone else (especially on here), all I gave was Bexxie my opinion on tattoos. I did not ask for my character or taste in things to be annihilated in the process.

Bexxie hope this helped with your decision.

Yes, my partner of 10 years appreciates it?

Once more, grow up and get back to the playground Ethel.
I'm having my 3rd done next week in Sheffield, and the tattooist is charging me 60 per hour. They normally charge by the hour.
Cheries, that's probably about right as mine took around 40 mins if I recall. I just remember it not being too expensive.

I am away to have another one done in Aberdeen in the nest few months.

Do you design your own?
isnt it true though that people can never seem to stop at one though? before you know it it looks tacky and cheap
Yes I have the word "mug" on my forehead.
I knew a bloke who had a picture of Elvis Presley on his arm and it looked more like Fred Dibnah! Still, at least he only has it until he dies eh?
And just to back Roosi up, my tattoo isn't to say "look at me". I'm having the name of my horse written on my arm so that he will be a part of me forever. And when I'm 75 I'll look pretty horrendous anyway. Hopefully I shan't be that bothered about how I look by that point, unlike some of you on here who clearly still plan to be on the pull as Octogenarians.
I have three and they are all no bigger than 2inches in circumference. Got them between 4 and 9 years ago and haven't paid over 40 for any of them.

Like has been said before, most tattoo parlours will charge by the hour and I think 60 is pretty average from my experience.
I don't plan to be on the pull but I don't plan to look like Rolf Harris's pallete either.
Big up Cheries, live and let live that's what I say.

Enjoy them while your young, and look back and smile about them when your older - look crappy? Probably, great memories of a great life I hope!

The tattooist who did my last tattoo charges per design, not by the hour,he is a tattoist with almost 30 years experience and has won awards worldwide for his designs and working practices.
Do lots of research on the tattooist you have chosen before committiong and ask other people you know who have nice designs where they got them done and would they recommend the tattoist they used.
Well here's my answer to that another view - who is on here actually reading this worrying what you think (lets face it )about my body

I am getting very bored with this conversation now
