hyperthetically, lets imagine, for whatever reason, a kid, say about 7 or 8, has found its easier to lie if they never look anyone in the eye. problem is, they like to lie an awful lot.

They get good at lieing. it becomes habbit. In the process, theyve learned never to look anyone in the eye.

the years pass. He gets to about 20. its still the same. he never looks anyone in the eye. always focusing on the mouth, or nose, or between the eyes.

now im curious, what psychological affect would this have on someone? how can he form a real relationship without ever looking someone in the eye for example?

Well he wouldn't be lying to someone he loved, would he, so he'd most likely look that person in the eye - at least now and again!!
Not all blind people look towards where someone's eyes are - yet they can form relationships.

well, the relationship thing was just an example. there must be some psychological impact not looking anyone in the eye has. it isnt normal human behaviour. blind people dont look anyone in the eye for the obvious fact that they cant.
Of course - but like yours, it was just an example. You asked how a person like this could form a real relationship without ever looking someone in the eye. Well - people DO! Lol.
there is a guy at work and he never looks people in the eye...i spoke to him a few times and it seems he has no self confidence and maybe low self esteem....does this mean he is a bad person? maybe when he was a child something happened, maybe he suffered abuse of some sort, maybe he doesnt feel good enough...i would like to know more about this subject from a proffesional person ...because the same has been said from other people where i work about this guy...they say he has something to hide...i just dont know...we cant judge people on appearance
When I was with my violent ex husband he had a thing about people looking at him and when I talked to him he didn't like eye contact this was worse when he was coming down off what ever he had took at the time. Anyway, I developed this habit of not giving people alot of eye concact and it caused me so much grief ever since.
I have had a few relationships after him and have found it hard as I think they will hit me if I look at them 2 long or whatever. I am trying to stop this habit but am finding it very very hard. It is down to self esteem and confidence.
