We're going out on Saturday night for a meal, it's in a casino we joined last month to celebrate my sis -in-law's 21st birthday.
Most of the gentlemen eating were wearing, jacket trousers, shirt with collar and tie which is my normal attire when stepping out with Mrs 4GS. However, some gentlemen wear not wearing a tie with their suits and they didn't look at all out of place.
What I'd like to know is this:
Should I stick to my morals and wear a shirt + tie combo? or Throw caution to the wind, stay steadfast in the face of adversity and go (heaven forbid) tie-less?
The dress code is smart casual, which means no jeans and/or trainers. I asked the Receptionist at the time if it was acceptable to gain admission tie-less, and apparently it is.
When I say stepping out, I mean socially, not for domestic stuff like shopping, school run etc.
I'd go without the tie, less stuffy especially at the casino and anyway if you were nervous at a bet you'd just start fiddling about with your tie and that would be a dead give away!!!
a tie looks much smarter in my opinion, it looks like you have made more of an effort, If mrs 4gs is going to get glammed up and look smart its only fitting that you smarten up too.
A lot depends on what the ladies are wearing, ie 'little black dress' if you are tieless you will be under dressed and would not be showing respect to your partner. Hope you have a lovely evening.
