Sorry I have never heard of left ventricular hypertension. I have heard of left ventricular hypertrophy due to hypertension. This means high blood pressure has put a strain on the heart (left ventricle) and the venrticle has become enlarged. Can't think of an operation that will assist in this condtion. The aortic valve can be affected and aortic valve replacement could be beneficial, but you have not mentioned anything about valve problems. Sorry not much help.

Yes that sounds like it can i ask do you work in the medical profesion ? I see a consultant in 2 weeks.I am doomed.
Nonsense, you are nowhere near doomed. Your condition can be treated with drugs and if a valve replacement is necessary, then they are now routine. best of luck and yes I am.

Thanks for replying i only went to the doctors for an mot they said i had high blood pressure whitch i was glad they found out about but then this was diagnosed.
I went from feeling as fit as a fiddle to a heart patient in 6 weeks .i feel overwelmed by it all.
thanks for taking the time to answer.
It sounds as though a worrying situation is really quite a common and easily treatable condition. The left ventricular hypertrophy bit is questionable and can only be accurately diagnosed by ECG and Ultrascan, and i am only guessing, but doubt whether you have had these. It looks as though you have treatable high blood pressure. In your situation I would buy a mobile BP machine from the chemist (about 12 I think) take your BP three times a day for a week, record the readings and then go back to your GP. Cheer up bobby.

Thank you sqad17 I have had an ecg taken and i am due to have a scan on the14th.my blood pressure is normal now but i know something is not quite right because i have trouble sleeping i cannot lay flat otherwise i feel i cannot breath it is a drowning sensation hard to explain. But your reply has cheered me up a little.
Fine, young atkin, please keep me informed.
Doctor is likely to recommend lifestyle changes, including:
Regular exercise
Low-sodium, low-fat diet
Smoking cessation
Blood pressure medication might also help prevent further enlargement of the left ventricle and even shrink your hypertrophic muscles.
Don't Panic be normal as you living oyur life style.
