I've been given a very nice thin scarf from Accessorize, but it's square - and I've never had a square one before. I might sound silly, but how are you meant to wear it...? I can't make it look right!
Thanks...

you can fold it up length ways until it is long and narrow and then wind it closely around your neck to create a fabric choker, it can look quite good like that.
On your head or around your neck doesn't really matter and depends how big it is, but the usual method is to fold it into a triangle and wear it that way.

If around the neck, you can either tie it or clip it, with point at back front or side, or you could roll it short like a scout neckerchief.

If on your head, then you can tie it under your chin and wear it like the Queen does, or you could tie it behind your neck. Alternatively, you could wear it like a WW2 turban. Straight edge of the triangle at the back, bring the point over to the forehead and bring the ends round to tie at the front, over the point. Then you bring the point up and over the ties, tucking it in.

If you break your arm in the meantime, use as a sling.

fold it in half to make a triangle, put it on your head (2 pointed ends in your hands & the 3rd one at the back of your neck) tie the 2 ends in your hands, under your neck.

Thanks very much for your answers so far! Didn't think to look for videos showing how to wear scarves!

This is the scarf:

I'm in my 20's, so don't want it to make me look too old fashioned! I also usually dress pretty casually, so would like to be able to wear it with casual (ish) clothes. Wouldn't wear it on my head. I've seen what I assume is this style of scarf being worn loosely around the neck on girls my age and younger, just can't work out how!

having seen the scarf & knowing your age, I think it would look better either around the neck but not in the first way I have described it above (jack daniel)

jno - where did ya get a picture of me mum???? LOL
squidgster, nice scarf :) I have a couple of similar ones that I acquired over Christmas. They are really funky, and light enough for spring too! Given the size of it, I just fold mine in half cross-ways (to make a triangle) then make sure the biggest point (like the middle of the scarf) sits on my front, and I wrap the "ends" round my neck once and back to the front, so it stays on!

Hi leelapops! I think the way you describe is how I see younger people wearing it....so thanks for that! sounds quite simple really...
Haha I hope my instructions weren't totally rubbish! I am not very good at being clear!

You make yourself sound old! Didn't you say you were in your 20s? That isn't old!

Haha yeah I'm 22!

Didn't mean to make myself sound that old...I suppose I meant 'younger' people as opposed to 'older' people, not just younger people than me......if that makes any sense whatsoever!
squidgster, me too! Yes I know what you mean. All the trendy-types wear them, and I never have the panache to look all Topshop like they do, but to be honest, I don't really mind that! :)
Fold in into a triangle, hold the two ends at the longest points, then twizzle it over itself a couple of times then tie round the back of your neck so pointy bit is at the front.
Ah, hau, you explain so much better than me! And the twizzle bit is expert: so you get the fabric sitting well on the front. Genius!
