Im a diabetic travelling from britain to paris by ferry. is it possible to keep my injections and insulin in my handbag?

Of course you can. You can even take them in your hand luggage on a plane (it is not considered to be a hazardous "sharp"). In fact, if you ask the cabin crew on a long flight they will keep it refridgerated for you if so wish.
